Welcoming you with open arms to the Down to Earth Wellness Center Family.
I’m Sarah - a mom, wife, and nurse practitioner - who cares deeply for the people in my life. I have worked in health care for over 20 years. I saw the things that worked and the things that didn’t.
But a few years ago, my husband got sick. Really sick. He had some stays in the hospital and several surgeries. This was 2020, and while our problem was not covid-related, it was complicated by the virus and the strain on health care it caused. And in the end, traditional medicine still did not offer the solutions he needed.
By the end of 2020, our family was craving a change. We spent so much time in our home, watching way too many hours of Netflix, and getting into a habit of ordering takeout. My husband and I were weary. We’d lost the connection as a family unit, but also within ourselves.
We needed a reset.
In early 2021, we made what we thought might be a crazy decision when my son remarked that since we were working remotely, we should just go to Hawaii. To everyone’s surprise–including my own–we booked the trip and spent two months in Hawaii as a family. But what might have been reckless in our budget proved to be the best decision. In Hawaii, we reconnected with what was truly important to us. That’s where Down to Earth was born.
We realized that more people needed the opportunity to reconnect and reset. And we also knew that our health care system worked in some situations, but there were gaps where people–like my husband–were falling, being treated for illness but not restored to wellness.
Using our strengths as a family, we began to envision a place that offered a new kind of health and wellness care - a place full of warmth and good energy - where we could walk alongside our clients on their wellness journeys to a more full and vibrant life.
In my day-to-day career, I was craving a space where I could help patients get to the root of their pain points, whether they were cosmetic or energy-related or something else. I wanted to build a personal relationship with them and help them experience a deeper transformation that goes beyond just another service.
Over the last few years, I’ve watched my friends and I give all of ourselves to our families and our jobs, so much that sometimes… we forget to take care of ourselves. And as cliché as it may be, you know as well as I do that you can’t pour from an empty cup.
In creating our vision for DTE, I wanted this place to feel like a getaway for those clients we’d serve who feel overwhelmed and burnt out by day-to-day demands. I wanted them to have the ability to recharge, prevent illness, and feel better. And I wanted to offer care to those patients who had complex health issues and were not being totally served by traditional medicine. We wanted to create a reset oasis right here in Greenwood that helped change people’s lives.
I'm so excited to extend a hand and invite you in to find that inner peace and feel empowered to take on the day again.
