Jo & Lyndon: IV Therapy Is The Surprising Upgrade to My Wellness Routine

Meet Jo and Lyndon! Since 2022, Jo and Lyndon have been the exclusive photographers for Down to Earth Wellness Center, playing a pivotal role in showcasing the DTE brand. When they’re not pouring into their community, you can find them reading, spending time with family, hiking, or traveling. Having been a part of the DTE brand for years, Jo and Lyndon have grown alongside the center, and now they are investing in their health with us on their own wellness journeys.

For most of my life, an IV was something you only got in emergencies, when you had to go to the ER. It was guaranteed to come with a couple of hours of waiting in multiple rooms, and the experience was cold, impersonal, and something I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

It turns out that’s not the only way to get an IV. Through working with DTE I’ve changed many of my opinions about what an IV is for and what a good experience can look like.

Let’s start with the why. If an IV is something that you get in the hospital, why would I willingly pay for an IV when I’m not “dying”?

In my (non-medical) understanding, it comes down to time.

Our bodies need vitamins, minerals, and many other things to function properly (let alone optimally). In my case, I started asking questions when I was feeling the effects of having deficiencies (fatigue, slow recovery, etc). For most things, I could have just modified my diet and taken supplements orally, and over time, I’d return to a good balance.

The key word here is “over time.” Vitamins and minerals that enter your body through your digestive tract have to be absorbed through your stomach/intestine linings. And you’ll just never have the same amount available to your system when you compare it to directly “putting” vitamins and minerals into your bloodstream through an IV.

At the end of the day, you can rebuild low levels and have more available to use when doing an IV vs. supplements. Meaning, you can improve a lot faster and get back to being your best self in less time.

What’s so interesting is it’s not just a supplement vs IVs decision. I’ve learned that to maximize your results, it is valuable to do both. IVs make changes more quickly, getting you back to a balance quicker. Supplements are great for smaller changes and maintenance once you get to good levels (Sarah Godsave, FNP-C wrote this blog post that goes deeper on IVs & oral supplement absorption).

IVs are also great for improving recovery when fighting colds and flu, recovery from things like marathons or large energy expenditures, a good old hangover recovery, and so much more.

Having learned all this, I was “IV curious” (willing to try) but I couldn’t get over the mental image of flickering florescent lights, slightly too-cold temperatures, off-beige rooms with no windows, and hours-long waiting in a hospital just for an IV.

As part of DTE’s Rejuvenate Membership, we now get one signature IV per month. And shockingly, it doesn’t feel anything at all like a hospital IV. I mean, sure you’re still getting a bag of fluids that gravity drips into your arm, but that’s basically where the similarities end.

Let’s walk through what our last IV visit looked like to give you a good example (you can see a video below of it).

Upon arriving at DTE, we are greeted by name when we walk in the front door, and almost immediately we are taken back to the reset room to briefly wait (there’s snacks & kombucha on tap while you wait!) until the nurse has our IV room set up. Each of the three IV rooms have two comfortable leather recliners to sit in, along with “room service” on a touch screen to bring any drinks, snacks, or assistance you could possibly need.

Upon getting to our room the process of putting the IV in only takes a few minutes, and if you’re anything like me the nurse will happily answer any number of questions you may have.

As for some of the perks of the Rejuvenate Membership, I also took advantage of the Normatec 2.0 Leg Recovery & a probiotic shot brought to me all while the IV was going.

All in all the whole process took us under an hour, and Jo and I got to sit together in the same room and hang out (aka talk about work) while it was happening. Basically nothing at all like the hospital room I imagined when we first talked about getting an IV.

There are multiple different IVs that DTE offers, and since I’m not a medical professional I won’t pretend to say what would be best for you. But if you’re interested you can refer to click here to request an appointment, or call into the office at (317) 978-0280 to set up an appointment.
